Inquiry and procurement of a patent system in the automotive sector

A renewed assignment on the development and use of the patent portfolio required the introduction of new work processes at the company’s IP department, and there was a need to examine the new processes’ effect on IT support. Prové was the project and inquiry manager for the assignment, which involved formulating IT support requirements and then assessing whether existing IT support could be further developed or if new support would have to be procured.

The inquiry revealed that evolving the existing system would be costly and inefficient, and material was prepared to facilitate a new procurement. After evaluating suppliers, a Proof of Concept was conducted on the most interesting systems. A final assessment was then conducted and final negotiations with the chosen supplier began.
