Developing the management team in a municipal authority

The local government department had appointed a new management team and had identified a need to organise the team, release its potential, and consolidate the management style in the department.

Prové began with an analysis of the current and desired situations, by interviewing the management team members. Work then proceeded in workshop format, defining the joint task, roles and work approach. Other issues discussed were how cooperation between units and productivity at the department as a whole could be improved.

By formulating ground rules, working with feedback and expressing what should be the overriding behaviours and attitudes, cooperation and the working climate were strengthened. An understanding was established of how leadership affects the culture, and the importance of the management team working as a cohesive unit to achieve the operation’s goals.
